I have used the IKEA store glass cabochons with flat back.
I have used this technique to add stones to multiple designer in necklaces and bracelets too.
It needs a lot of practice to weave with wire but crochet with wire is something else altogether. But learning this will be a step up in your wire wrapping skill level.
